Saturday April 24 2010 is the day to taste some of the best cooking the South has to offer! Mouth-watering foods will be simmering and bubbling in cast iron pots on a bed of coals! After judges samples are taken visitors are permitted to enjoy any food that has been made until the pots run out. This will all take place at the Gonzales Pioneer Living History Center in Gonzales Texas! Stroll around the 1800s grounds where you can watch blacksmithing at work and if early enough watch the Dutch oven cook-off conclusion! After the judges have decided the winners the prizes will be awarded around 1:30 p.m. just in time for everyone to prepare for the afternoon performance. This year the ONeal Brothers will be performed on the outdoor Pioneer Opera stage weather permitting around 2:00 p.m. Admission fee is 8.00 for adults and 5.00 for children.
