Home Tour and Antique Show
Superior, AZ Drive 45 minutes East of Phoenix and you will find one of Americas most storied mining towns. Reported visitors included some of Western historys most notorious characters including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday.
Superiors historical landmarks and beautiful landscapes have long been a favorite of Hollywood filmmakers and it served as a local for the Oscar winning film How the West Was Won. Unfortunately the town fell on hard times a few decades ago when the copper gold and silver mining booms dwindled out. Today the town is making a comeback and youre invited to join the party. On the last Saturday and Sunday in January the Superior Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Home and Building Tour. From 9 am to 5 pm on January 30th and 10 am to 4 pm on January 31st you can view many of the restorations and remodels. The fee for the tour is 10 (8 prepaid). Superiors guests can also enjoy a free Antique Show lectures by Jack San Felice author of When Silver Was King as well as being able to watch the Mata Ortiz potters as they craft their world famous pottery amongst other artists. A pancake breakfast on Saturday morning at 8 am hosted by the Fire Department will kick off the festivities. Food vendors will be set up around the town. The nationally renowned Boyce Thompson Arboretum 2 miles West of Superior will also welcome visitors. All ticket holders will receive a 2 for 1 entry ticket to the arboretum.
